Alan has not been Alan for days. Obsessed with mapping the Beyond using the architecture of the internet, he has filled a black leather notebook with neural networks, alchemical symbols and references to the Kabbalah.
When Sara finds him, she understands that Alan is not mad in the clinical sense: he is seeing a reality the rest of us ignore out of sheer mental health.
